Welcome to our Governors’ section
The Local Governing Body has three main roles:
- To set the strategic direction of the school
- To act as a critical friend to the school
- To hold the school to account
The Local Governing Body does this by meeting twice a term as a full governing body. During the first meeting, there is a focus on Resources and Compliance and Standards and Outcomes. The second meeting examines detailed reports from the Headteacher and other leaders. The Local Governing Body operates under a flat structure in which there are no committees, but each governor takes on several areas of responsibility best suited to their individual skillset.
In addition to these meetings, governors visit the school to see it in action and to gather information for governor meetings.
The day to day management of the school is delegated to the Headteacher and the staff.
Governors are unable to intervene in any individual school matter unless the Headteacher has been unable to satisfactorily resolve the matter of concern. Individual governors have no special authority; it is the governing body as a whole which exercises its responsibilities.
