The purpose of the Sports Premium grant is to promote additional opportunities for children to engage in high-quality PE/coaching and to take part in intra and inter-school competitions.

We use our allocation in several ways.

We subscribe to Willow Tree Sports Partnership and top up offer - The partnership provides high-quality training for staff, a full calendar of inter-school competitions and intra-school festivals for younger children, and before and after school clubs in a variety of minority sports. In addition, we use our time allocation to train play leaders to promote active play at lunchtime.

We have a commitment to additional sports clubs for girls and underrepresented year groups and use our partnerships with outside providers to run multi-sport activities for half term blocks to target the less active groups.

The remainder of the funds help to partially pay for a full-time Sport Apprentice who works in timetabled PE lessons to maximise inclusion of children with additional needs and to improve the outcomes of small team games by leading and coaching within the teacher-led lessons. The apprentice also supports voluntary teaching staff after school sport sessions improving the experience for pupils. The apprentice accompanies off-site sports trips, thereby releasing other staff to continue their internal roles.
